New York — a foodie paradise

Hannah at the American Museum of Natural History
It’s impossible to go hungry in New York—not with vendors selling hot dogs, pretzels, kabobs and more on every corner. It’s also impossible to get bored eating in New York, whether you want to head to China Town or Ninth Avenue for good ethnic eats, great burgers, pasta, pizza or more gourmet fare. more →

Central Park through a preschooler’s eyes

Hannah on Central Park Lilly Pads
We saw the penguins and the puffins, the sea lions and polar bears Ida and Gus, the Red Pandas and the Snow Monkeys. The Snow Leopards -- new to the zoo -- seemed to be hiding. The Wildlife Conservation Society, which oversees The Central Park Zoo as well as the Bronx Zoo and others in NYC (www.wcs.org), is a leader in the care and conservation of these creatures. more →

A few days in New York with a preschooler

Shrek the Musical on Broadway
This is my four year-old cousin Hannah Sitzman’s first Broadway production and she loves every minute of it -- from the costumes and sets to the music to the black tee shirt which spells out “Shrek” in pink sparkly letters. I especially loved the magic of the costumes. more →

They’re 18 -- newly minted high school graduates. Yet they are having as much fun at California Adventure and later at the iconic Disneyland (which opened in 1955) as any kid. more →

To the Mohonk Mountain House

Mohonk's ice-skating pavilion, completed in 2001 overlooks Lake Mohonk and invites ice-skaters to warm up by a large stone fireplace.
There it is, right in front of us, a castle, a sprawling, Victorian castle, just a couple of hours north of New York City. more →

At Mohonk, the spa gathers its own witch hazel

Gingerbread house under construction at Mohonk Mountain House
