For summer hiking, I Like Merrell’s MOAB because the M Select DRY seals out water and lets moisture escape and there is ankle support as well as a cushion in the heel.
My son in law gives thumbs up to Merrell’s Bervard Oxford. “What I love about them is that they’re stylish, but not too formal. I don’t feel weird about wearing them while I’m biking. And, unexpectedly, the shoe is really lightweight!” he says.

I like brand that have some cushioning—and now that sneakers are fashionable, my go-to for sightseeing are Ecco Soft 7 leather sneaker with the ECCO Comfort Fibre System designed to help your feet stay cool.
For trips where I know all my work outs will be indoors, I like podiatrist-designed Sierra Active Sneakers with a knit upper for added breathability and a dual density outsole for great traction. The one downside: They aren’t waterproof!

I’ve also found Vaneil and Sesto Meucci Shoes are comfortable—and elicits compliments. Marmi Shoes carries one of the largest selections. The Spanish brand Pikolinos is another good bet for looking good but being comfortable.
And for travel, you can’t go wrong with Crocs that now come in many more styles than the traditional clogs with the holes in them.
Check out the OluKai Pehuea Shoes that are casual, breathable and a dual-density PU anatomical foot bed and drop-In heel that offers both shoe and slide functionality. Remove the foot beds and wash them! They are especially cute in red!
