We just got back from a whirlwind trip to Northern California that included museum-hopping in San Francisco, hiking in Yosemite National Park and wine tasting in Sonoma County. My companions, besides my husband Andy were my 23-year-old daughter Reggie and her boyfriend Dan Foldes. They live and work in San Francisco.

I was happy to pick up the tab for the privilege–and pleasure–of seeing the sites through their eyes. I was gratified that Reg, who has shared many adventures with me–even climbing Mt. Kilamanjaro–is still glad to travel with me and her dad, leading the way through Golden Gate Park and up Yosemite’s hiking trails.

We had good talks along the way but she also got frustrated with my questions at times, just as she did as a little girl. “Enjoy the moment, mom!” she’d say.

And she was right. And I did enjoy “the moment,” every moment–because I was sharing it with her.
