TRAVEL TIP OF THE DAY Kids Takes Northeast Museums, Zoos and More
New York is museum city—and not just Manhattan
Saturday, October 18, 2008 New York is one of the country’s greatest museum cities for kids—and we’re not just talking Manhattan. The Brooklyn Children’s Museum (http://www.brooklynkids.org) has just moved into a $49 million expanded building-becoming simultaneously the world’s newest and oldest children’s museum complete with a fresh water pond, the chance for kids to make lanterns for Chinese New Year and bake pretend bread in a Mexican bakery. The museum is the first NYC museum to receive certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. Go Green!
