Gogobot recognizes rising destinations and decliners worth a second look

Each year, Gogobot issues the Gogobot Awards, recognizing great destinations and places to eat, stay and play. This year, St. Petersburg FL and Cleveland OH topped the Rising Stars list. Puerto Rico and Myrtle Beach were named as Declining Destinations Worth a Second Look for Family Travelers. Here are the full lists with links to additional info on what to do, where to stay and what to eat in each location:

Gogobot’s Family Travelers’ Rising Stars Destinations list for 2016 are all cities increasing in popularity:

1. St. Petersburg
2. Cleveland
3. Fort Worth
4. New Orleans
5. St. Augustine
6. Miami
7. Philadelphia
8. Phoenix
9. Milwaukee

Please note that Charlotte NC had been initially listed as No. 5 in the Rising Stars category. Gogobot removed Charlotte from the list and issued a warning to travelers to avoid North Carolina after its governor signed a bill into law this week that many view as discriminatory against the LGBT community. Gogobot issued a similar advisory in Indiana after a similar law was passed last year.

Gogobot’s 2016 Declining Family Destinations Worth a Second Look experienced a decline, but don’t write these destinations off. With fewer tourists visiting than in recent years, these destinations may help you get your money’s worth out of your vacation, since you’ll likely encounter fewer families vying for hotels or crowding around you at attractions and restaurants:

1. Puerto Rico
2. Myrtle Beach
3. Monterey Bay Region
4. The Florida Keys
5. Cape Cod
6. Santa Barbara
7. London
8. Oahu
9. Colorado Springs
10. Savannah

Gogobot takes a number of different factors into account when selecting its winners including reviewing data across the more than 60,000 destinations in its database. Both lists are based on the number of reviews from distinct travelers visiting the destination, the number of people creating trips on Gogobot for these destinations and real travelers recommending these spots to the Family Travelers Tribe on Gogobot in 2015.
