Washington, D.C. will experience on average a 222 percent daily influx of travelers this week with the Presidential Inauguration, according to an analysis of travelers’ booking intent by leading travel insurance provider Allianz Global Assistance. The findings showed that more than 114,000 people plan on traveling to D.C. on January 18 (10,833 people), 19 (27,874 people), 20 (56,933 people) and 21 (18,445 people). “With an upsurge of people going to Washington for the inauguration, it’s important to check the box for travel insurance,” said Daniel Durazo, director of communications at Allianz Global Assistance USA. “While it can’t coordinate diplomacy, the right travel insurance policy can provide coverage and assistance for many unforeseen or unexpected events like covered trip cancelations and delays, lost, stolen or delayed luggage, medical emergencies and more.” Allianz Global Assistance offers travel insurance through most major U.S. airlines, leading travel agents, online travel agencies, other travel suppliers and directly to consumers.
