National Parks Week: Chesapeake & Ohio Canal

It’s National Parks Week (April 16-24). All entrance fees are waived. Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park (DC, MD, WV) 184.5 miles of adventure with places to hike, bike, camp, and even paddle and horseback ride.  Within an easy distance from the memorials of the nation’s capital, families can still hike to the spectacular Great Falls, (a 75′ drop in the Potomac River), spot bald eagles flying above the Potomac River, hike the famous Billy Goat trail, stay overnight in a historic lock keeper’s house, or watch an old fashioned mule drawn canal boat travel through historic locks on the canal. During National Park Week, families step back in history by visiting a Civil War Camp Reenactment or take part in “Canal Pride Days” to help clean the park.
