National Parks Week: Great Sand Dunes (CO)

AIt’s National Parks Week (April 16-24). All entrance fees are waived. At Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve (CO) you can walk, roll, fatbike, sled or sandboard down the tallest dunes in North America and still have wetlands, an aspen forest, and tundra to explore.  Families can even take a splash in Medano Creek.  This park has both campgrounds and lodges.  Half the park is after dark, so families should stick around for star-gazing.  Junior Ranger books are now available for kids of all ages – even the parents.
