Norwegian Cruise Line is set to become the third to add lifeguards to its fleet this summer, following Royal Caribbean’s announcement earlier this spring and Disney before that. The line has had crew members acting as pool monitors since 2015, they are not trained in lifesaving. The new lifeguards, whose only job on the ship will be as lifeguards, will be trained and certified by the American Red Cross in lifesaving rescue measures and will monitor family pools during scheduled pool hours, Cruise Critic.com reported. 0The service will start onboard Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Epic this summer. Additionally, the line will also offer free swim vests for both adults and children on these four ships. According to a CruiseCritic.com poll, 55 per cent of cruisers believe at least some ships should have lifeguard and more than a third say ships should have lifeguard regardless of if they’re aimed at families.
