VIP Lounge at JW Marriott Grosvenor House
By Eileen Ogintz
LONDON — I admit it. My secret travel vice is access to hotel VIP lounges.
It’s not that I need to be treated like a VIP. I just want to de-stress experience as much as possible—especially with kids. That means not having to wait to be served breakfast or a snack or paying through the nose for food the kids won’t eat.
A lot of parents must agree because there were lots of kids at London’s Grosvenor House Executive Lounge. The Historic Park Lane hotel is a JW Marriott and attracts lots of American families for its location, spacious rooms and, we found, the American-style JW Steakhouse, where kids could snooze on a banquette after a long day of sightseeing or eat a burger while parents relaxed with a first-rate steak and perhaps a bourbon (the restaurant is known for its Bourbon selection).

As for the Executive Lounge, kids and parents can serve themselves their own cereal, eggs, bagel and lox, etc… and come back in the afternoon for a snack or early dinner—parents of course love the free wine and beer! I saw a lot of families making a dinner out of the hors d’oervres—everything from veggies and dip to cheese and crackers and various salads.
