The Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut is partnering with Discovering Amistad to teach the history of racism in the United States. The two organizations will combine staff and resources to facilitate engagement and interaction on the subject.
A replica of the schooner Amistad slave ship, docked for the summer at the Museum, will be a platform for education and outreach. Discovering Amistad has developed a proprietary curriculum that addresses racism and inequality and adheres to national College, Career and Civic Life social studies framework.
They agree that a collaborative effort is the most impactful approach to educating youth on this issue. For more information, visit here.
