DEVELOPING SOCIAL SKILLS AT HOME

It looks like millions of American kids will not be returning to the classroom this fall due to  COVID-19. Parents can use the following tips to help their offspring develop socially and emotionally while at home:

  • Schedule online and in person play dates to encourage interaction with peers
  • Ask open-ended questions to allow for meaningful conversations
  • Connect them with  virtual study buddies
  • Host  family game nights to foster good sportsmanship

Give children as many opportunities as possible to practice social skills. Visit the Center on the Developing Child for more advice.
