A team of Scientists recently discovered a massive new coral reef in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. It measures approximately 1,600 feet.
This detached reef is in waters off North Queensland and is taller than the Empire State Building in New York City. The team used SuBastian, an underwater robot, to explore the reef and live streamed the footage of the exploration.
There are seven other tall detached reefs in the area. Read more about the newly discovered reef and view a photograph of it here.
