SCOTTSDALE, AZ (Day 2) — Should I feel guilty?
First, my friend Laura and I relax at the spa pool—no kiddos here (we don’t want to see any since this is a moms’ getaway) — where we love the spectacular mountain and desert views.
We can’t resist a pretty pink drink—Raspberry Breeze with vodka, fresh raspberries, a spritz…Yum!
We amble inside out of the sun for lunch at Sprouts which serves healthy eats (complete with calorie counts) but indulgences too like chocolate fondue. We love the chicken curry lettuce wraps, tuna tartare and salads. We skip the chocolate fondue!
Now time for the real indulgence. We head into the spa, first for the Jacuzzi and eucalyptus steam and then treatments—a honey nectar wrap for Laura and a revitalizing massage for me.
Afterward, we regrouped at the pool with iced tea. I love that you can spend the whole day here and many resort and guests and do, spa director Kelli Ziegler says.
Once here, you can use the fitness center, take a class (zumba or a 6:30 a.m. power walk maybe?) or hang out at the pool—all included with your spa treatment. (You can also opt to purchase a $35 day pass.)

Take your pick of spa ambiance and treatments The Four Seasons touts a Healing Hiker’s Massage while the Arizona Spa at the Westin Kierland Resort offers Agave Enchantment, a hydrating treatment. Willow Stream at the Fairmont has got a two-hour Havasupai Falls Rejuvenation, named after the Native American tribe in Northwestern Arizona, while The Golden Door Spa at the Boulders Resort has a Turquoise Wrap. Complete with a warm turquoise clay wrap and rain stick ritual.
Still, Camelback Spa director Kelli Ziegler says Swedish massage remain the most popular treatment. “People are looking to spas to get fit, eat healthy and get rid of stress,” she explained.
That’s certainly our plan.
