I just got back from two entirely different kinds of destinations that are winners for entirely different kinds of families.
I spent a few days in Pigeon Forge, TN (www.mypigeonforge.com) that is at the edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park (the most visited in the country!) Dollywood (www.dollywood.com) and all variety of shows, mini golf and more. You can rent a terrific huge log house for a family reunion overlooking the mountains. Good wholesome fun and plenty of good Southern eats (think chicken and dumplings, country ham, corn fritters…..
From there, I moved to The Oasis, Royal Caribbean’s new ship that is the biggest cruiseship in the world complete with carousel, mini golf, an aqua show, ice rink–you name it, they have it–even a nursery at sea. (www.royalcaribbean.com)
Either a cruise or a place like Pigeon Forge is an especially good bet for a family reunion with lots for all ages to do and places to stay that can accomodate all budgets. As we gather this week for Thanksgiving, consider planning a family trip in 2010.
The key is to pick the right kind of trip for your gang.
