Little Brown Bear sales benefit Child Mind Institute

Cute toys abound this time of year, but one little brown bear does double duty as a plush present and a fundraiser for the Child Mind Institute, a national nonprofit working to transform the lives of children and families with mental health and learning disorders. An estimated 17.1 million U.S. kids have or have had a mental-health disorder, and half of all mental illness occurs before age 14.  These disorders are real, common and treatable, but 40% of children and teens with diagnosable ADHD aren’t getting treatment, 60% of those with diagnosable depression aren’t getting help, and 80% with a diagnosable anxiety disorder are missing out on the help they need. Bloomingdale’s, a founding partner of the Child Mind Institute since 2009, sells the annual collectible Little Brown Bear by GUND for $20 through the holiday season, with $4 of each sale benefitting the Child Mind Institute. This year’s super-soft fuzzy friend sports a festive “B” varsity letter jacket. To purchase the bear and more gifts that benefit the Child Mind Institute, visit
