Orlando and Cancun are once again US travelers’ most popular domestic and international destinations for Spring Break this year, according to a survey by Allianz Global Assistance, a leading travel insurance provider. Orlando (9.5 percent) was the number one domestic destination for Spring Breakers traveling between Feb. 23-April 16. Following in popularity are Phoenix (5.2 percent), Honolulu (4.7 percent), Fort Lauderdale (4.4 percent), Las Vegas (4.2 percent), Fort Myers (4.1 percent), New York (3.8 percent), Los Angeles (3.4 percent), Miami (3.3 percent) and Maui (3.2 percent). Internationally, the top three destinations are in Mexico, with Cancun (14.2 percent) leading the list, then San Jose Del Cabo (6.3 percent) and Puerto Vallarta (5.1 percent).
The Allianz findings also showed the busiest travel day for domestic (4.1 percent) and international flights (5.69 percent) is March 10, 2018. Most Spring Break travelers are taking a five day trip for domestic destinations (31 percent) and an eight day trip for international destinations (52 percent).
