United Unaccompanied Minor Policy Change

Good news! Now 15-year olds can travel unaccompanied on United Airline flights. The change became effective on December 14, 2017. It means even more young people will be able to fly alone during the holidays as well as to go to camp and on field trips. Airline officials have identified existing reservations with 15 year-old passengers traveling alone on/after December 14, and they will contact the agency and/or customer to advise them of their new policy. The policy rules are:

  • Accepted on non-stop flights by United or United Express
  • Not accepted on connections
  • The Service charge is $150 per flight
  • Children under age 5 are not eligible for this service
