That’s what my daughters told me this morning as I was stressing about our upcoming international flight to Chile. I wasn’t worried about increased security in the wake of a foiled–thank goodness–terrorist who was on board at Northwest-Delta flight from Amsterdam.
Increased security just goes with flying these days and as frustrating as it is to us travelers, we should applaud the vigilance and cooperate fully.
I was more stressed about the weather. One in our group has to fly to New York from the Midwest to meet us for our international flight and we all know how the winter weather has been wreaking havoc with travel plans.
In fact, the weather almost derailed our Christmas. We were scheduled to fly from Montrose, CO (read my travel diary about our week skiing at Telluride and Silverton!) through Chicago to get home to Connecticut for Christmas Eve.
I knew things were bad when we couldn’t even get United Airlines on the phone! But my daughter Mel was persistent and patient. She waited on hold for 29 minutes until a United agent came on the line. We were not only rerouted through Denver at no charge but got extra-legroom seats. Thanks, United!
I’m just hoping our next flights are as easy. And if not, I’m going to take a deep breath and take my daughters’ advice to “chill” –or at least try to anyway.
